Energybody In Waldorf circles you can encounter the term etherbody. Hopefully with an explanation. If not, here I’ll try. The term etherbody come from Antroposophy, and before that Theosophy. It’s the name for the energy that makes a plant a plant, instead of a pile of dust. It’s the live force that shapes and sustains plants, animals and humans. Because ether is a little bit confusing, the term energybody is also used, as I did in the title. The energybody is a little bit bigger than the physical body, when you’re healthy. It has organs, just like the physical body. If you’re not healthy, it’s because something is wrong in the energybody. For example, by inflamations the energybody at that place is a bit smaller than the physical body, and can’t sustain it very well. Antroposophic therapies, like eurythmy, are meant to put the energybody on it’s correct place, shape and size.
In the energybody also sustains your long term memory, your habits and ‘automatisms’. Between the age of 7 and 14 as a human you make your energybody to your own; you have inherited it from your parents, and there are energies and habits of your parents and grandparents in it. Eurythmy at Waldorf education is, among other reasons, meant to help with making your energybody to your own.
The energybody also houses the 4 temperaments. I’ll try one day to make a article about that. For the moment I put it in an incoherent block with other ‘bonusfacts’ about the energybody here.
