Why is Earth the spiritual center of the universe?
This question appeared in an anthroposophic facebook group and I tried to answer it. It’s a bit chaotic here and there, sorry. And certainly if you haven’t read the history and incarnations of earth as Steiner describes it in ‘Occult Science’, it may be even more incomprehensive. Feel free to ask for clarification.
The universe, also called God, or trinity, is creating spiritual hierarchies, like angels and archangels. This is a sort of project of the universe, to call it in a blunt physical term. Probably a part of a bigger ‘project’. The earth in all its incarnations is the vehicle of this. We’re now only seeing the current, very physical incarnation.
We as current humans are confused by the natural science that there seems to be a whole physical universe around us, where we only are an insignificant part off. This is a somewhat materialistic (ahrimanic) illusion. What we’re seeing through telescopes are points in the bodies of the highest hierarchies, (I’ll try to find the names later). They may not even be physically there*. (yet*)
They are gathered around the earth, although physically we aren’t in the center. It’s like the hearth of a human; it’s not fully in the center. But the heart is the center of us human beings. Why the heart? Why not the brain? In the heart the outer flows of brain (thoughts, straight) and willforce from the limbs (will, round) come together and are felt, experienced. The hearth isn’t the physical pump natural science thinks, it’s almost a sort of sense, sensing the blood flow instead of pumping it.
The current hierarchy going through its humanity phase is us, humans. We’re supposed to become spirits of love. For this, we need to have free will, and the only way to achieve that, is through a very physical world we now live in. And because the creation of new hierarchies is the major point of the universe, the earth is the center of the universe because this is the only place where it’s possible.*
Christ is a sort of separated entity of the universe. As the center of a circle: still part of it, but somehow special above all the other points in the circle. Christ did incarnate on earth, which could be the/one reason earth is special. But this is a bit of circular reasoning. Christ did incarnate on earth because the development of earth was the center point of the development of the universe.
*I have a hypothesis, which will be a future post.
